YEREVAN (CoinChapter.com) — Celebrated singer, songwriter, and actress Madonna is the latest big name to join the Metaverse with a Bored Ape Yacht Club – BAYC NFT. According to reports, she acquired Ape #4988 for 180 ETH or $466,000 based on the ETH price on the day of the purchase.
As the Twitter handle of NFT Valuations Bot informed, the former owner initially sold the piece back on 16 March. The buyer, who was then unknown, had reportedly paid 105% more than the collection floor and 57% more than the adjusted floor price for the NFT.
Like has been the case for many celebrities, payment solution company MoonPay facilitated the purchase of the NFT. The company acquired Madonna’s ape ten days ago, according to Opensea data. The company then transferred the Ape to Madonna’s wallet two days ago.
The Queen of Pop’s new NFT is a DMT-furred ape on orange background with a black sleeveless tee and an S&M hat. In the original NFT, her ape also has a cigarette in his mouth. However, while confirming her purchase on social media, Madonna has changed the background to blue. She has also removed the cigarette from the mouth of her ape.

Madonna finally buys a BAYC NFT after dropping early hints
Madonna’s entry into the BAYC world is not unexpected. In January, when Hollywood actor and comedian Kevin Hart purchased Ape #9258, CoinChapter predicted that Madonna would also be joining the bandwagon soon.
Photographer and Creative Director Lindsey Byrnes had posted a picture of her Bored Ape Yach Club NFT #3756, informing the mega-star that she had saved it for her.
To everyone’s excitement, Madonna responded, enquiring about what she should do next.
Well, it seems she has finally taken the call. Although she has purchased a different ape than the one she initially showed interest in, it seems she has made sure it came with her signature S&M hat.
Shortly after MoonPay transferred the ape to Madonna, the company also sent Bored Ape #1506 to another wallet. Then, the leopard-furred ape went to rapper Wiz Khalifa with an eye patch. He has since made it his Twitter profile picture.
Following the rapper’s entry, Snoop Dogg, who owns Bored Ape #6723, released an eight-song mixtape with Wiz Khalifa to promote the recently-released ApeCoin (APE) Coin.
According to data from cryptocurrency data platform WhaleStats, ApeCoin (APE) has been the most traded cryptocurrency by the biggest 100 Ethereum (ETH) wallets for five days straight.
At the time of writing, APE exchanges hands for a little over $13 per token, according to CoinMarketCap. With Madonna joining the list of mega-celebrities holding a BAYC NFT, Yuga Labs has added another feather to its cap.
