The Shiba Inu community has been warned of a growing threat posed by Clipper malware. This malicious software targets cryptocurrency transactions by intercepting and altering copied wallet addresses and redirecting funds to the attacker’s account.
The ShibArmy Scam Alerts, an account focused on scam prevention in the Shiba Inu ecosystem, issued the alert in a tweet on Sept. 18.
Malware Resurfaces, Targets Crypto Transactions
First discovered in 2017, Clipper malware has made a comeback, now affecting Android and iOS devices. However, Android remains the primary target. The malware monitors users’ clipboards for copied cryptocurrency wallet addresses and replaces them with the attacker’s address.
If users don’t catch this swap, their funds end up in the scammer’s wallet rather than the intended destination.

Binance responded to the threat by blacklisting suspicious addresses and directly notifying affected users. Their security team closely monitors the situation, but the risk remains elevated. Binance, alongside ShibArmy Scam Alerts, urges users to exercise extra caution when managing their crypto.

In response, Binance has tightened security measures, keeping a vigilant watch and alerting users to suspicious activity. However, they stress that the responsibility does not end there.
How to Protect Yourself from Clipper Malware
ShibArmy Scam Alerts shared some tips to help users protect their crypto. The first step is to always double-check wallet addresses before sending funds. Simply verifying that the copied address matches the original can prevent falling victim to Clipper malware’s tricks.

Moreover, ShibArmy also recommends taking a screenshot of the correct wallet address as an extra precaution and advises users to avoid downloading apps from unverified sources. Keeping security software updated remains essential for protecting against malware threats.
Despite Binance’s efforts to mitigate the impact, Shiba Inu holders and the broader crypto community must remain vigilant. The rise in Clipper malware attacks is a stark reminder of the risks associated with crypto transactions. Users can better protect their funds from this malicious software by following these safety tips.
