YEREVAN (CoinChapter.com) — Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), the iconic NFT collection from Yuga Labs, is losing its glare. In the current bear market, people are turning away from collecting digital art. Some of the highest-priced Apes have now tanked almost 100%.
Experts at CryptoGambling.tv analyzed OpenSea, the largest Ethereum-based marketplace, to identify the highest bids placed on the most costly BAYC NFTs. Their findings have revealed the extent of their depreciation.
“While it may be particularly troubling information for enthusiasts who hold these tokens, the future of NFTs is unknown – it may only be a matter of time before the values begin to rise,”
a spokesperson from CryptoGambling.tv said.
Avid NFT collector Machi Big Brother is one of the biggest losers when it comes to BAYC value. His Bored Ape #5199 has tanked significantly since he purchased it for over a whopping $1.6 million.
This rare, robot fur ape sports a red eye and an army green background. The highest bid on it at the moment is just around $42,000. This puts its value depreciation at 97.3%.
Bored Ape #8135 is the next on the list of the biggest BAYC value losers. The Ape, which does a trippy captain’s hat and carries a dagger in its mouth, fetched $1,873,449 on Sept. 17, 2021.
The current highest offer for the NFT on OpenSea is around $53,000. This marks a massive 97.1% decrease from its purchase price.
This Ape sold at a remarkable $3,408,000, (over $3.4 million) at a Sotheby’s auction in Oct. 2021, it is the priciest NFT within the collection.
Its exceptional image depicts the ape adorned with golden fur, a spinner hat, and a party blower in its mouth.
Bored Ape #8817, now commands a top offer of $103,002.25 on OpenSea. This represents a substantial 97% reduction in value.
Known as ‘The Captain,’ Bored Ape #3749 ranks as the second most expensive NFT in the BAYC collection. It previously sold for over $2,907 million.
This highly-priced NFT showcases an ape adorned with distinctive gold fur, a rarity limited to just 46 assets. Additionally, the ape dons a black t-shirt set against a vibrant yellow backdrop, complete with a captain’s hat and laser-like beaming eyes.
Presently, the highest offer for this specific NFT stands at $103,498.20 on OpenSea. This represents a substantial 96.4% price decrease.
Formerly valued at $2,702,462, Bored Ape #8585 ranks as the fourth most expensive item within the collection.
It is arguably one of the fanciest apes out there. It sports a pair of heart-shaped sunglasses and an opulent crown, adding to its appeal among NFT enthusiasts.
However, it currently commands $95,464.80 as the highest bid on OpenSea. This precipitous decrease in value amounts to a substantial 96.4% price drop.
With floor prices of major NFT collections tanking in today’s market, it is no wonder that these Apes have lost their price and appeal.
