Did CIA Assassinate MakerDAO Co-Founder Nikolai Mushegian?

LAGOS (CoinChapter.com) — A pseudonym Redditor with username r/cryptocurrency has accused the US Central Intelligence Agency of having a hand in the sudden and controversial death of Nikolai Mushegian, the co-founder of MakerDAO.

The Redditor, in a post, implied that 29-year-old Mushegian, found dead in Puerto Rico, was murdered. The account alleged that Mushegian was killed because he was trying to expose a sex trafficking ring in Puerto Rico.

Recall that Mushegian was found dead on the beach behind Ashford Hospital in Condado, Puerto Rico. The late Balancer Labs co-founder was reported to have drowned while swimming. A report claimed that the currents dragged Mushegian and swept them away while swimming at Condado beach.

However, things developed an interesting twist as Mushegian had tweeted about his potential death at the hands of the CIA days before his alleged drowning. The 29-year-old claimed that the CIA and Israeli intelligence agency Mossad planned to kill him. He said:

“CIA and Mossad and pedo elite are running some kind of sex trafficking entrapment blackmail ring out of Puerto Rico and caribbean islands. They are going to frame me with a laptop planted by my ex GF who was a spy. They will torture me to death.”

Due to the post, many persons on Twitter and Reddit have speculated that Mushegian was killed in a cover-up attempt. However, it is important to note that local media in Puerto Rico emphasized that Mushegian died from drowning.

Crypto Community Demand Answers To Nikolai Mushegian Death

Meanwhile, the crypto community has expressed discontentment with the manner of Nikolai Mushegian’s death. Several stakeholders in the community have implied that unknown entities orchestrated the MakerDAO co-founder’s death.

Crypto analyst Dylan Leclair, in a Twitter thread, pointed out several tweets leading up to Mushegian’s death. He concluded his post by urging a proper investigation into Mushegian’s death, saying the “pursuit of truth is more important.”

“People with infinite time and money” . which means we ve all been fighting an enemy we can’t see or win.”

A Twitter user stated.

“Partially correct. The Agency(s) use honey pots as human assets. The skin game has been running long before the CIA and Mossad were around. Are they running it, no. Using and leveraging the tools of the trade or ‘tradecraft’, yes. They are our criminal employees.”

Another user said.

“I’ve noticed an uptick of gov agents spreading state-backed propaganda against certain targeted individuals lately, like they decided to repeat their 70s playbook, but this smear campeign of character assassination after they already assassinated Nickolai Mushegian takes the cake.”

Charles Hoskinson, Craig Sellars, and Others Pay Tributes

While the crypto community continues to debate Nikolai Mushegian’s death, top industry stakeholders have paid tribute to the late MakerDAO co-founder.

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson, in a tweet, remembers knowing Nicolai Mushegian while working on BitShares. He says Nicolai had a wide array of interests, including game theory, Urbit, and blockchain technologies.

Tether co-founder Craig Sellars also paid respect to the late Mushegian. Emin Gün Sirer, the founder and CEO of Ava Labs, also expressed sadness over Mushegian demise.

MakerDAO co-founder Rune Christensen stated that Mushegian was solely responsible for the platform’s growth.

He said:

“Nikolai was one of the only people in the early days of Ethereum and smart contracts who was able to predict the possibility of smart contract hacks and invented the security-oriented approach to smart contract design we know today. Maker would have been toast without him.”
