YEREVAN (CoinChapter.com) — FIFA and Mythical Games are introducing a new blockchain game, FIFA Rivals. The free-to-play soccer game will be released in summer 2025 on iOS and Android devices. It will enable players to manage soccer clubs and compete in arcade-style, real-time gameplay. The game’s description highlights its focus on club building and competitive matches.

Powered by Mythos Blockchain and Polkadot Network

FIFA Rivals will use the Mythos blockchain, supported by the Polkadot network. This structure ensures efficient and secure operations for the game. Mythical Games’ prior experience with blockchain gaming tools and networks has been instrumental in FIFA Rivals’ development.

This game continues a growing trend where sports organizations adopt blockchain technology for fan engagement. Players will also have access to in-game assets they can trade or monetize within the ecosystem.

Potential Audience for FIFA Rivals

According to John Linden, CEO of Mythical Games, FIFA Rivals could bring over 100 million gamers into Web3 gaming. This estimate builds on the success of their earlier game, NFL Rivals, which attracted over 6 million players.

Mythical Games previously saw success with Blankos Block Party, an NFT-based game that transitioned to the Polkadot network. Blankos records about 3 million monthly transactions.

Mythos Foundation: Supporting FIFA Rivals and Beyond

Notably, FIFA Rivals has been developed with the support of the Mythos Foundation, which Mythical Games launched in October 2022. The foundation focuses on building cross-chain infrastructure, supporting NFT-based economies, and helping traditional esports transition to Web3 platforms.

In addition, the Mythos Foundation also collaborates with traditional gaming platforms to develop policies that support blockchain-based gaming.

Moreover, in June 2023, Mythical Games raised $37 million in Series C1 funding. The funds were allocated to develop a marketplace and pursue other Web3 gaming projects, including FIFA Rivals.
