Gemini Beats Coinbase in App Store Rankings After XRP Mastercard Card Launch

Gemini has moved ahead of Coinbase on the US Apple App Store finance category following the release of its XRP Mastercard card. Data from Sensor Tower shows Gemini ranked 16th in finance apps, while Coinbase dropped to 20th.

Earlier this month, Gemini held the 117th spot, compared to Coinbase at 26th. The XRP Mastercard card launch pushed Gemini upward in downloads and visibility. Gemini confirmed the launch on X, stating,

Despite this move in rankings, Coinbase maintains higher trading activity. According to Messari, Coinbase has more than three times the daily trading volume of Gemini.

XRP Mastercard Card Gains Attention From Industry Leaders

The new XRP Mastercard card caught attention across the cryptocurrency sector. Tyler Winklevoss, co-founder of Gemini, posted, “The flippening is accelerating” on X after Gemini surpassed Coinbase in the finance category.

Ripple Labs CEO Brad Garlinghouse also commented, writing,

“An XRP rewards credit card out in the world?! What a time to be alive, XRP family.”

His post highlighted Ripple’s involvement with the XRP Mastercard card alongside Gemini and Mastercard.

App Store rankings are influenced by several factors, including downloads, keywords, reviews, retention, and app performance. According to App Tweak, these elements shaped Gemini’s sudden rise in the finance category.

Coinbase Retains Higher Trading Volume Than Gemini

While Gemini surpassed Coinbase in app rankings, Coinbase still leads in trading activity. CoinMarketCap data shows Coinbase processed $4.54 billion in trading volume in the last 24 hours. In comparison, Gemini recorded $382.49 million, ranking 24th among exchanges. Coinbase holds third place globally by trading volume.

The gap between rankings and trading volume shows that Gemini’s App Store position does not reflect exchange dominance. Coinbase remains ahead in volume, while Gemini’s XRP Mastercard card influenced user engagement in app downloads.

Gemini Files for Nasdaq IPO After XRP Mastercard Card Launch

The XRP Mastercard card launch and App Store climb come as Gemini prepares for a public listing. The exchange recently filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to list its Class A common stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker GEMI.

According to its filing, Gemini shares will be publicly traded for the first time. The IPO will be led by major banks, including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Citigroup. Pricing details remain undisclosed.

The filing marks Gemini’s latest step as it expands its presence in the crypto sector, following the XRP Mastercard card launch that pushed its app above Coinbase in rankings.
