Investcorp Partners with Securitize for Tokenized Fund

Investcorp

NAIROBI (CoinChapter.com) — Investcorp announced a strategic partnership with Securitize to explore fund tokenization opportunities within Investcorp’s Strategic Capital Group (ISCG). The announcement on June 26 revealed that the tokenized fund would provide qualified investors access to ISCG’s general partner staking strategy. This strategy involves acquiring minority interests in asset management firms rather than investing in the underlying funds they manage.

ISCG manages approximately $1.5 billion in assets and has completed 12 investments since its launch in 2019, positioning it among the most active GP stakes investors.

“This partnership with Securitize continues Investcorp’s strong legacy as an innovator in alternative investments,” said Anthony Maniscalco, Managing Partner at ISCG, adding:

“Tokenization technology can increase efficiencies for investors and usher in a new era of accessibility.”

Carlos Domingo, CEO of Securitize, echoed this sentiment, stating:

“By tokenizing alternative assets, we break down barriers, allowing individual investors to participate in opportunities that were previously out of reach.”

Real-World Asset Tokenization Gains Momentum

Real-world asset tokenization has emerged as a key focus in the crypto industry. It is now the second most profitable sector of the crypto economy, just behind memecoins. In the first half of 2024, asset tokenization projects delivered a 214% return for investors.

Tokenizing assets, from government bonds to real estate, enhances efficiency and liquidity while increasing the velocity of money. By 2030, the market for digitized assets is projected to grow to $2 trillion, according to McKinsey & Company.

Real-world asset tokenization is attracting institutional investors to cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. Kunal Bhasin of KPMG Canada noted that institutional investors are ready to embrace tokenized commercial real estate. However, they are waiting for the market to mature. Tokenized opportunities offer inclusive investment possibilities.

In addition to KPMG’s insights, other major financial institutions are also exploring tokenization. Investcorp, which manages $52 billion in assets, continues to innovate in alternative investments. The firm’s strategic partnership with Securitize highlights the growing interest and potential in leveraging blockchain technology for asset management.
