It is official! US President Joe Biden and VP Kamala Harris are running for reelection

YEREVAN (CoinChapter.com) — US President Joe Biden confirmed that he would seek reelection to the country’s top office. In a video announcement on Twitter, the 80-year-old Democrat called on American voters to once again support him for the sake of “Freedom” and “Democracy.” Sitting Vice President Kamala Harris, who ran with Biden in 2020, will be on his ticket again. 

Biden and Harris had previously said they had plans to run again. However, this is the first official announcement after months of speculation and uncertainty. According to their fundraiser website, their campaign slogan is “Let’s Finish The Job”. 

“When I ran for President four years ago, I said we were going to battle for the soul of America. And we still are…The question we are facing is, weather in the years ahead, we have more freedom or less freedom, more rights or fewer. I know what I want the answer to be, and I think you do too. This is not the time to be complaisant. That’s why I am running for reelection,” 

Biden said in the video. 

Some of the events depicted in the video include the January 6 Capitol Hill riots, when supporters of Former President Donald Trump stormed the US Congress in an attempt to reverse the election results. Joe Biden, who had defeated him, was due to take oath days later. 

However, Joe Biden’s popularity has suffered immensely. Both his and Kamala Harris’s approval ratings are running low. Winning again will be difficult, especially if pitted against a strong Republican opponent.

Donald Trump slums Biden Administration 

Reacting strongly to the announcement, Republican opponent and former US President Donald Trump slammed Joe Biden. Calling him “the most corrupt president in American history,” he accused him of electoral malpractices. 

“Biden has totally humiliated our Nation on the world stage…there’s never been a record as bad as they have… With such a calamitous and failed presidency, it is almost inconceivable that Biden would even think of running for reelection. You know what happened in the last election: they cheated, and they rigged the election,” 

he wrote.  

Trump also reiterated that he plans to run against Joe Biden. He will be seeking nomination from the Republican Party to “Make America Great Again.” However, he recently made history by becoming the first US President to be indicted, arrested, and prosecuted. So it won’t be easy to get the support of his colleagues and the American public.

Will the United States see Trump vs Biden again? Perhaps. Maybe this is the best America can do.
