YEREVAN (CoinChapter.com) — Russia’s invasion of Ukraine will complete one year next month, but the fighting seems far from cooling down. In a fresh development, the Biden Administration in the United States has decided to allocate a fresh $2.5 billion in military aid to Ukraine. According to reports, the package will include several high-end weapons and equipment, including Stryker combat vehicles.

This is the first time that the US will send these Canadian-made armored fighting vehicles to Ukraine since the war began. As per initial information, the US is ready to provide as many as 100 Stryker combat vehicles and at least 50 Bradley armored vehicles.

CNN reported that the package could be finalized by the end of this week.

This would mark one of the largest aid packages that the United States has given to Ukraine. It also comes as a huge upgrade in terms of the technology and performance of equipment. Other than the Stryker, Kyiv will also receive mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles (MRAP).

The United States has been consistent in providing military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Kyiv has already bagged several long-range missiles, including the HIMARS rocket systems. Within the new $2.5 billion aid package, Ukraine will receive more of them.

The US will provide $2.5 billion in fresh aid package to Ukraine

As CoinChapter earlier reported, Ukraine used HIMARS in the attack on occupied Makiivka earlier this month that allegedly killed 400 Russian soldiers.

However, the United States has refused to provide Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS), which the country had requested. With a range of around 200 miles (300 kilometers), these can be deadly for invading Russian forces. Ukraine will also not receive M1 Abrams tanks in their aid package.

Can the US economy fund a continued war in Ukraine?

The involvement of the United States in the ongoing war in Ukraine has received its fair share of criticisms. The Republicans, who now hold a majority in the US House of Representatives, have threatened to stop sending aid packages to the battered country. The US has already sent over $13.5 billion in aid from January 2021.

Several US citizens have also hit out at the Biden Administration for using the taxpayer’s money in someone else’s war. Caught in high inflation, they expect the Government to solve domestic issues first before being charitable.

Citizens are unhappy with the US Government under the Biden Administration’s $2.5 billion aid package to Ukraine.

In the past two years alone, the national debt has risen by about $4 trillion. It currently stands at over $31 trillion.

However, Joe Biden and Co. seem undeterred to continue their making US presence felt. As 2022 came to a close, Democrats passed a controversial $1.7 trillion spending bill. Several US Citizens had lashed out at the ludicrous proposition.

“No more money for Ukraine. Fix our own problems first. Fix our own borders first. Fix our own country first. We are not the worlds police,”

one angry reader commented on the news when it broke.

Notwithstanding, the Biden administration also intends to provide $125 million in additional energy support for Ukraine, according to the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

By funding Ukraine, the United States is creating an economic sinkhole that will be hard to climb out of.
