North Korea: Missile Tests Were Simulated Attacks Against US and South Korea

NEW DELHI (CoinChapter.com) — The North Korea Missile tests were a simulation of attacks on the strategic locations in South Korea, said Kim Jong-un’s government. Per a report in the state-run KCNA, the government was practicing an attack on rival airbases and paralyzing their operation command systems.

The recent barrage of tests was in response to the provocative US and South Korea after the two countries held a “dangerous war drill,” with Pyongyang stating that it had resolved to counter US-South Korea military drills “more thoroughly and mercilessly.”

Meanwhile, South Korea recovered parts of a North Korean missile near its coast. It marked the first time a North Korean ballistic missile landed near South Korea’s waters. The South Korean navy used an underwater probe to recover the parts.

Simulation Of A North Korean Attack On South Korea And the US

Last week, North Korea test-fired several missiles, including a possibly failed intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), and hundreds of artillery shells that led to the Japanese government issuing a warning for residents to seek shelter. The US and South Korea responded by extending their air drills.

The North Korean military has repeatedly called the “Vigilant Storm” exercises an open provocation from the US and South Korea. Moreover, Kim Jong-un’s government alleged the west was intentionally escalating tensions in the region with its “dangerous war drill of very high aggressive nature.

Furthermore, the North’s army stated that it was also simulating attacks on a major South Korean city to “smash the enemies’ persistent war hysteria.”

The armed forces of the DPRK thoroughly coped with the enemy’s joint air drill, raised the sense of confidence capable of neutralizing the “theory on superiority” of the air force of the enemy, perfectly verified the reliable military preparedness and capacity of our army and further hardened its absolute will for counteraction.

A report in the KCNA stated

Meanwhile, US and South Korean officials noted that Pyongyang might have prepared to test a nuclear device. It will mark the first nuclear test by the country since 2017. The North Korea missile test also included most missiles launched in a day.

Furthermore, 2022 has become a record year for the North Korean missile test program.

Diplomats from South Korea, the US, and Japan condemned the recent tests by North Korea over a phone call on Sunday. In addition, South Korean officials denied the North’s claims of firing two “strategic” cruise missiles toward South’s Ulsan, a coastal city housing a nuclear power plant and large factory parks.

Analysts believe some photos released by North Korean state media might be recycled from last year’s launches.
