Peyton and Eli To Sell ‘The Manning Legacy Collection’ NFTs On Friday

The NFT world has another new entrant in arguably the most successful brother duo in the history of the NFL. Peyton and Eli Manning announced “The Manning Legacy Collection,” an eight-piece NFT art line.

The collection will go on sale on Friday, April 16 on MakersPlace. Digital artists Joseph “JK5” Ari Aloi and Micah Johnson will each create four pieces for the series.

A Digital Tribute

The works themselves will pay tribute to iconic moments in the lives and careers of the Manning brothers. This includes Eli’s famous pass to David Tyree in Super Bowl XLII known as the “helmet catch”. It will also pay homage to Peyton’s signature “Omaha!” catchphrase which he regularly said before snaps during games.

Peyton released a statement on the announcement. “For our collection, we wanted to curate one-of-a-kind fine artwork for the NFT community,” Manning said. “Collaborating with JK5, Micah Johnson and their teams gave us the opportunity to handcraft each individual piece so that they are truly unique to us and elevate the creative for the growing collectors base.”

The younger Eli was focused on the true storytelling aspect of things. “I think it’s really about telling your story through art,” he told Sportico in a recent interview. “The fun part was actually creating the pieces, creating the art, and now hopefully other people get to enjoy it as well.”

Some pieces will allow collectors to receive physical artwork, signed memorabilia, and virtual meet-and-greets with the Super Bowl champion QBs. Additionally, there will be charitable benefits connected to this NFT collection as well. One piece will benefit Tackle Kids Cancer while another will benefit the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at Ascension St. Vincent.

NFT Adoption Booms

The NFT world continues to see more and more celebrity involvement from all facets of life. The Manning brothers are the latest from the NFL family to join and their biggest rival, Tom Brady, recently announced his launch of the NFT platform, Autograph.

Meanwhile, Dapper Labs’ NBA Top Shot continues to be the premier NFT trading place while Major League Baseball and World Wrestling Entertainment have also thrown their hats in the ring as well. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey also sold his first tweet for $2.9 million and musician Steve Aoki sold an NFT for just under $900,000. The largest single NFT sold remains in the art world as artist Beeple sold a digital piece for $69.3 million.
