YEREVAN (CoinChapter.com) – Play-to-earn (P2E) NFT gaming adoption will nearly double in the U.S. this year, according to a recent report by an independent comparison platform and information service Finder.

As Finder.com reports, 9.4% of American internet users that took part in the survey have used a play-to-earn game. Moreover, 7.1% expressed a desire to try out a P2E platform in 2022. Based on such numbers, the adoption in the U.S. alone could soon reach 16.5% by the end of this year.

Based on the answers from 43,312 people across 26 countries, the United States currently ranks 18th in terms of P2E adoption. The survey results also revealed that men are more likely to take an interest in NFT gaming than women.

Only 6% of women said they had played a play-to-earn crypto game before against 13% of American men. Those numbers, however, could grow to 11% and 22%, respectively, by the end of this year.

The survey results also show people aged 18-34 are most likely to play P2E at 17.5%. Those in the age group 35-50 are second at 7.3%.

The results place the Unites States ahead of its northern neighbor Canada. However, the country is still behind some South American nations. In Brazil, for example, the adoption is nearly 18%, with an additional 11.8% planning to play this year. Meanwhile, in Venezuela, 14.1% of those surveyed said they had played a P2E game. An additional 13.4% claimed they plan to do so in 2022.

P2E crypto games have become popular since projects like Sandbox, and Axie Infinity made headlines. By playing crypto NFT games, users earn two types of cryptocurrency; in-game crypto in tokens or existing blue-chip cryptocurrency like Bitcoin (BTC) or Ethereum (ETH).

“These games have already taken off in countries like India and the Philippines where people are reportedly quitting their jobs to earn money on P2E platforms,”

Finder.com’s cryptocurrency editor Keegan Francis claimed.

With more people looking to earn a quick buck, the adoption of play-to-earn crypto games will rise. Additionally, as Francis states, P2E adoption will likely grow in the U.S. as more developers build crypto mechanics into their ecosystems.
