Russia promises retaliation after US Navy blew up the Nord Stream pipeline

YEREVAN (CoinChapter.com) — Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Seymour Hersh published an explosive story blaming the USA Navy for blowing up the Nord Stream pipeline. The report ignited a fresh war of words between Moscow and Washington. Now a United States Senator has come forward to claim the accusation might have some merit. According to Mike Lee, who represents the state of Utah, the Biden Administration could be behind the blast.

“I’m troubled that I can’t immediately rule out the suggestion that the U.S. blew up Nord Stream. I checked with a bunch of Senate colleagues. Among those I’ve asked, none were ever briefed on this. If it turns out to be true, we’ve got a huge problem,”

the US Senator wrote

Russia and the US had accused each other of destroying the Nord Stream pipelines under the Baltic Sea when it suspiciously blew up in September 2022. The pipeline was important both for Russia and the EU as it supplied gas to Europe while bypassing Ukraine.

While the collective West accused the Kremlin of sabotaging the EU’s energy security, Mosow said the United States organized the attack out of self-interest so it could sell oil and gas to the block instead.

Several other US citizens have now come out to remind how President Joe Biden swore to “end Nord Stream”. Others demanded an investigation into the allegations.

US officials have, on several occasions, threatened to stop the Nord Stream pipeline.

Norway allegedly collaborated with the US to blow up the pipeline. According to the report, the country was chosen because of its hatred for Russia and its large number of experienced divers. Moreover, Oslo would agree because the operation “would allow Norway to sell vastly more of its own natural gas to Europe“.

Russia promises retaliation for the Nord Stream blast

After the report began circulating, Russia hyped up the rhetoric against the United States. Using the opportunity to repeat what it has always held, Moscow blamed the Biden Administration for the explosion.

Moreover, the Kremlin warned that Washington will get an appropriate response from Moscow for the attack.

“Our assumption was that the US and several NATO allies were involved in this disgusting crime,”

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told reporters in Moscow.
The United States allegedly attempted to start WWIII by sabotaging Nord Stream Pipeline

When Russian President Vladimir Putin previously accused the US and its allies of organizing the Nord Stream pipeline blast, President Joe Biden flatly denied responsibility. He told reporters to “just don’t listen to what Putin is saying.”

However, now it is more than Putin who is saying it. The fact that the investigative report comes from a reputed, award-winning journalist has rattled Washington. Now US citizens and lawmakers want answers from the Biden Administration.

“By blowing up the Nord Stream Pipeline Joe Biden has become the largest environmental terrorist of all time,”

Biden Administration denies involvement

The White House has denied accusations that journalist Seymour Hersh labeled the Biden Administration. According to the US President’s office, the idea that Joe Biden sanctioned the blast was untrue.

“This is utterly false and complete fiction,”

Adrienne Watson, a spokesperson for the White House National Security Council, said.

The US Central Investigative Agency (CIA) and State Department have also reportedly said the same.

This is despite the fact that Biden told reporters last February that “there will be longer Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it” if Russia invades Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry also denied the allegations of the country’s involvement, calling the report “nonsense”.

While Russia and the US will continue exchanging accusations, it will be interesting to see how the European Union will react. However, there Joe Biden will have a lot of explaining to do at home.
