WISCONSIN (CoinChapter.com) — Sega, the well-known Japanese video game company, just officially announced buying Rovio, the company behind the well-liked puzzle game Angry Birds. The transaction is valued at $776 million, or 710 million euros.

According to Sega’s CEO of Sega Sammy’s Group, Haruki Satomi, this acquisition signifies the company’s long-term objective of increasing its growth in the gaming sector. In doing so, Sega will purchase Rovio’s existing stocks and options, valued at 9.25 euros per share.

Sega’s Growth in the Gaming Sector

Since its founding in 1960, Sega has held a significant position in the video game industry. Numerous well-liked gaming systems and titles created by the firm have been played by millions worldwide. But in recent years, Sega has had to contend with fierce rivalry from other industry titans, like Sony and Nintendo.

Sega has been aiming to increase its portfolio by purchasing new gaming companies to keep ahead of the competition. The purchase of Rovio is a reputable gaming firm with a track record of developing incredibly engaging games that have gone viral.

Sega can now use the business’s skills to produce new, cutting-edge games that interest players.

The Success of Rovio

In 2003, three Finnish video game developers established Rovio.

Angry Birds, the company’s ground-breaking game, was introduced in 2009 and instantly went viral. The basic but addicting gameplay of the game, along with its endearing images and sound effects, instantly made it popular with players worldwide.

Rovio has since published several games in the game’s sequels, along with spin-offs and goods. In addition, the studio has expanded into other gaming subgenres, including role-playing and puzzle games.

The purchase of Rovio by Sega is a huge event for the gaming sector.

Both firms benefit from the arrangement, as Sega has access to Rovio’s knowledge and resources, and Rovio gets from Sega’s extensive network and resources. Additionally, the acquisition represents a big step towards Sega’s long-term objective of diversifying its portfolio and maintaining an edge over rivals.

After acquiring Rovio, Sega can now concentrate on developing new, cutting-edge games that will keep players interested and entertained for years.
