YEREVAN (CoinChapter.com)- A set of selfies by Indonesian student Ghozali Ghozalo, which he turned into an NFT collection, has gone viral. Within days, the Selfie NFT collection attracted massive trading volume, crossing the $1 million mark, based on the data available on OpenSea.

Ghozali’s unique collection of NFTs comprises selfies that the 22 years old photographed for four years.

“I took photos of myself since I was 18 to 22 years old (2017 – 2021)…it’s really a picture of me standing in front of the computer day by day,”

he claims in his OpenSea profile.

His success story has turned him into an instant meme on social media.

Each year has at least 365 days. Hence, one can assume he has not uploaded all the pictures of his collection as his OpenSea contains no more than 933 NFT selfies.

However, he will not be adding any more selfies to his NFT collection, by the looks of it.

“For the next few years I won’t be listing,”

he tweeted.

The celebrity college student also requested buyers not to misuse his pictures, or “my parents will very disappointed to me.”

The selfie NFT collection, which Ghozali put together, initially started with a floor price of just ETH 0.001. Then, however, it increased to ETH 0.2 as early buyers began flipping them for profits.

Local celebrities endorse Ghozali’s selfie NFT collection

Ghozali’s NFT collection became a major hit after local celebrities rallied behind the young man’s initiative.

The Indonesian entrepreneur and founder of the Urban Sneaker Society, Jeffry Jouw, threw his weight behind the project. After buying a few of the NFTs and tweeting several posts about it, he updated his Twitter profile picture. He even organized a special giveaway of one of his selfie NFTs.

Celebrity chef Arnold Poernomo was also among the promoters of Ghozali’s selfie NFT collection. Poernomo is a judge on the competitive cooking reality series Masterchef Indonesia,

“Ghozali happened today. A collage kid who challenged himself how far his engagement can go by minting 1000days of his selfie on OS,”

 he tweeted.

Ghozali has now become a global celebrity. Famous singer and YouTuber Jonathan Mann created a special song in his honor. In November 2014, Mann set a world record for the most consecutive days writing a song. His songs are often based on relevant, trendy topics. Because of his sudden rise to fame, Ghozali and his selfie NFTs became the perfect protagonist for a song.

Others in the NFT space are also excited about the news. They see the development as a great way to popularize NFTs in the region.

“Ghozali NFTs almost reached a 1 ETH floor at its peak. While funny, this has driven NFT into mainstream conversations in Indonesia. It shows that any average person can profit in the NFT space, and would be key to onboarding millions of people in the region,”

BAYC collector TheNFTAsian tweeted.

As the word expresses their admiration for another successful NFT project, we expect to see more Ghozali memes on social media.
