YEREVAN (CoinChapter.com) – Sports management platform Socios.com has signed a $20 million deal with the Argentian Football star Lionel Messi.

The new partnership will make Messi the fan token site’s global brand ambassador for three years. The development comes just after another football legend, David Beckham, signed a similar deal with open-source blockchain DigitalBits.

According to the official website of the Paris-Saint Germain star, his partnership with the company will build a more inclusive, exciting, and rewarding future for fans across the world.

Every since club fan tokens became popular, Socios has dominated the market. Several big names in European football have partnered with Socios to release their fan tokens. These include Arsenal, Manchester City, Everton, Juventus, Aston Villa, AS Roma, Paris Saint-Germain, Leeds, etc.

Socios also hosts fan tokens for teams represented in other sports, including hockey, basketball, cricket, etc.

The Socios platform’s in-house economy functions using the native Chiliz (CHZ) tokens. Fans also get to participate in the club’s decision-making on minor matters such as celebration songs and squad numbers if they hold club tokens.

Last August, Paris Saint-Germain’s official fan token, PSG, rallied after Lionel Messi joined the French club.

The company also confirmed the news on its official Twitter handle after adding “Lionel Messi Approved” as the page’s description.

According to the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, Socios.com enhances the fan experience and enables them to “be more” than just fans.

“Fans deserve to be recognised for their support. They deserve opportunities to influence the teams they love. I’m proud to join Socios.com’s mission to create a more connected and rewarding future for fans around the world,”

Messi said.

David Beckham enters the Metaverse with DigitalBits

Another legendary footballer, David Beckham, has jumped on the crypto and blockchain bandwagon. According to reports, he is launching his first NFT collection through DigitalBits. Last week, the company announced they had cemented a deal with Beckham. The Inter Miami CF co-owner will also be their Global Ambassador.

“I am always keen to find new ways to connect with my fans across the world. The moment I spoke with Al and the DigitalBits team, I knew that this was a major opportunity to create new experiences for my fans online. I have always taken pride in working with the best teams and I am so excited to work on my NFT collections and more innovations in the future,”

Chiliz (CHZ) spikes following Messi deal

Chiliz (CHZ), the native token of Socios.com, spiked after Lionel Messi’s deal. Within hours, CHZ was up by over 20%. At the time of writing, CHZ exchanges hands for $0.3192 per token, according to data available on CoinMarketCap.

The former England captain has more than 138 million followers online. His posts register annual impressions of 9 billion across social networks. On the other hand, Lionel Messi has 400 million followers to his credit. With the two megastars joining the industry, we may see a spike in adopting blockchain technologies in the days to come.
