Venice, Italy, 20th April, 2022,
Energy-efficient blockchain Tezos, in collaboration with Bloomberg Philanthropies and Serpentine, will power a captivating interactive NFT experience featuring generative artist Eko33 at this year’s 59th Venice Biennale – making it one of the first crypto art activations at the international art exhibition, as it returns after a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic.
Located adjacent to the historic Piazza San Marco inside Giardini Reali, Un Pezzo D’Arte features a four-sided structure with seamless screens on each facet, displaying generative artwork by Eko33. Bloomberg Connects Lounge attendees will be able to claim their own unique NFT by scanning a QR code, which will allow them to create and access a Tezos-compatible crypto wallet, where they will get to collect their own NFT and learn more about blockchain technology’s growing influence in art and culture.
In addition, Bloomberg Philanthropies and Serpentine will also host a private Breakfast Series in the lounge, featuring some of the world’s most prominent artists and curators:
Encounters in Art & Technology (Wednesday, April 20, 2022) Breakfast: 9:00 AM / Talk: 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM
On Dreaming and Unrealized Projects (Friday, April 22, 2022) Breakfast: 9:00 AM / Talk: 9:30 – 10:30 AM
Sophia Al-Maria, Precious Okoyomon, Marianna Simnett, P. Staff and Tourmaline in conversation, moderated by Serpentine’s Claude Adjil, Curator at Large and Hans Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director, on visions of the future, unrealized projects and the importance of dreaming at a time of transformation.
Based in Switzerland, Eko33 has been experimenting with digital arts since 1999, in addition to teaching creative coding within world-class art schools in France and Switzerland. His works have been displayed in museums, international biennials, and major art festivals, including the Seoul Museum of Art in South Korea, Art Basel in Miami Beach, and more.
This installation is yet another example of the Tezos ecosystem’s commitment to supporting its vibrant community of artists and creators. Un Pezzo D’Arte takes inspiration from Tezos’ groundbreaking NFT experience at Art Basel in Miami Beach last December, entitled Human + Machine, featuring the work of German generative artist Mario Klingemann. Tezos was also most recently part of SXSW 2022 with Block/Space, an experiential activation featuring creators and brands reimagining culture on the blockchain.
With a pioneering, energy-efficient Proof-of-Stake design and low costs to mint and transact NFTs, Tezos is quickly becoming the premier blockchain for artists and brands around the world. Notable organizations building on Tezos include Manchester United, The Gap, Ubisoft, leading esports organization Misfits Gaming Group, Formula 1 racing teams Oracle, Red Bull Racing and McLaren Racing, banking giant Societe Generale, music NFT platform OneOf, and more.
