YEREVAN (CoinChapter.com) —  United States President Donald Trump has directed the President’s Working Group on Digital Assets to include XRP, Solana (SOL), and Cardano (ADA) in the national crypto reserve. Later, he confirmed that Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) will also be included, stating they will be the “heart of the reserve.”

Trump’s stance on a crypto reserve has shifted since his speech at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Tennessee. During the event, he committed to keeping 100% of the Bitcoin the government holds or acquires.

“If I am elected, it will be the policy of my Administration — the United States of America — to keep 100% of all the Bitcoin the government currently holds or acquires into the future. We will keep a hundred percent.”

Bitcoin Maximalists React to Trump’s Executive Order

On Jan․ 23, Trump signed an executive order instructing the Digital Asset Working Group to study the feasibility of a national crypto reserve. The order also directed the group to examine a regulatory framework for stablecoins while banning research and development of a central bank digital currency (CBDC) in the United States.

After the order, Bitcoin maximalists reacted to the possibility of other cryptocurrencies being included in the reserve. Many had expected the reserve to hold only Bitcoin, aligning with Trump’s Bitcoin 2024 speech.

Pierre Rochard, Vice President of Research at Riot Platforms, also pointed out that the language of the executive order did not match Trump’s earlier statements about Bitcoin.

Trump will host the first White House crypto summit on March 7. The meeting will bring together industry executives and members of the Digital Asset Working Group to discuss crypto regulation in the United States.

The agenda will likely include discussions on the crypto reserve, stablecoin policies, and regulatory changes. Bitcoin’s role in the national reserve is also expected to be a main topic.
