YEREVAN (CoinChapter.com) — Life in China has become hell for its citizens.

The continuous lockdowns, thanks to its strict zero-Covid policy, have brought economic hardship and resulted in many deaths. In addition, the Chinese authorities have now announced new restrictions, causing panic and resentment among people.

While the world has moved on from lockdowns, the Communist Party of China uses Covid as a pretext to keep a check on citizens.

Several citizens have come out to protest the Zero Covid policy in China amid increasing deaths and suffering

Zero Covid Policy — Several Deaths in China

Several Chinese citizens have slammed the Government for its draconian Covid policy. As the insensitive approach of the authorities continues to take lives, people have started speaking out against the senseless lockdown.

A four-month-old girl died from vomiting and diarrhea in a quarantined hotel in Zhengzhou earlier this month. The reason? Medics who arrived at her house refused urgent treatment because she tested negative for Covid.

An ambulance eventually took her to the hospital twelve hours after her father’s distress calls. But unfortunately, it took two hours for her to get to the hospital. By the time she could receive the much-need medical attention, she died.

She died just days after a three-year-old boy died from carbon monoxide poisoning in Lanzhou. Like the four-month-old girl, he did not get medical attention. Authorities did not allow his father to take him to the hospital because of the lockdown, resulting in his tragic death.

China is killing its citizens through repressive lockdowns

In a recent CNN report, a young Chinese man accused the authorities of “killing his dad.” Once a supporter of the zero Covid policy, he changed his mind when the lockdown prevented his 58 years-old father from getting medical help.

Although his building had no Covid cases, authorities refused to allow his dad to get the necessary medical aid.

These are just a few of the many stories coming out of China. The zero Covid policy of the Chinese Government is killing people instead of saving them. This is despite President Xi Jinping’s previous promises that medical treatment will not be denied under the lockdown.

Several citizens also suffer from chronic depression as a result of the lockdown. According to reports, many people have resorted to committing suicide in mainland China and Tibet.

More lockdowns? Chinese citizens protest

Although China has been under strict lockdown for the past three years, there seems to be no end. Earlier this week, authorities announced they had recorded 331,527 new cases. This is a significant increase from the previous peak of 28,000 in April 2022.

According to official records, just over 5,000 people have died of Covid 19. For a country of 1.4 billion people, that is just three deaths for every million people.

Nonetheless, the Government has now decided to extend the lockdown.

The decision has caused widespread discontent in various cities. In the southern city of Guangzhou, protesters took matters into their hands. They defied the lockdown and flooded the streets. Videos emerging from the city show angry citizens clashing with health workers.

As per reports, most of them are workers of the Foxconn Technology Group. Foxconn is the largest iPhone assembly factory in the world. Besides the repressive lockdown, they have also expressed anger at their employers about their wages and living conditions.

As a result, Foxconn has now promised $1,400 to each worker who wishes to resign. The company has also offered them free transportation home.

With anger and resentment rising, it is evident that Chinese people are fed up with the zero Covid policy. However, authorities are yet to show any signs of concern.
