LAGOS (CoinChapter.com) — Bitcoin has emerged as the most popular recurring purchase asset in 2022, surpassing leading companies such as Apple and Tesla.
Aparna Chennapragada, Robinhood’s Chief Product Officer revealed this while speaking at the Bitcoin 2022 conference in Miami. She indicated that the world’s largest cryptocurrency is the top recurring buy asset for the company so far this year.

Although the exact figures were not provided, a chart from Robinhood indicated that investors are choosing Bitcoin over other assets.
This is more impressive considering the bearish run registered by the entire crypto market in the first quarter of 2022. However, investors have still chosen to invest their finances, into a crypto future.
“Bitcoin is the number one recurring buy asset for 2022 across all asset classes. Yes it’s ahead of Tesla it’s ahead of Apple and this is a really clear inflection point for normalizing and enabling many more people to come into the world of crypto and Bitcoin,” Chennapragada said.
Additionally, Chennapragada revealed that Robinhood has plans to incorporate the Bitcoin Lightning Network into its technical stack shortly.
Ethereum, Dogecoin Make List Of Top 10 Most Frequently Bought Assets
The third-largest cryptocurrency by market cap, Ethereum was the third most popular recurring purchase. Ethereum beat up assets belonging to Tesla, Amazon, Microsoft, among other assets listed on Robinhood.
Furthermore, the top meme token Dogecoin was the sixth most bought asset. The token briefly surged over 30% earlier this week following news that Tesla CEO Elon Musk has taken a 9.2% stake in Twitter.
Other notable assets on the list include Vanguard 500 Index Fund ETF, SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust, and Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund ETF.
Bitcoin Will Never Be Controlled By Government —Thiel
In another development, at the Bitcoin 2022 conference in Miami, Peter Thiel, PayPal and Palantir Technologies co-founder said Bitcoin will never be controlled by the government.
Thiel made the statement while explaining the difference between fiat (government-controlled currency) and cryptocurrency.
He slammed several anti-crypto investors indicating that bitcoin’s price would still increase 100 times over. He noted that for Bitcoin to achieve this feat it would need to record more adoption driven by multinational organizations.
The lightning-rod venture capitalist also criticized central banks around the world, slamming them for their slow uptake of digital technology. Thiel further urged JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon and BlackRock CEO Larry Fink to invest more find into the top asset.
“They need to be allocating some of their money to bitcoin. We need to push back on them,” he said.
