Melania Trump floats NFT, sales begins today, Dec 16.
Trump’s NFT to be used to foster the community and inspire children.
NIGERIA (CoinChapter.com) – Former U.S. first lady Melania Trump is the latest influential person to jump on the nonfungible token (NFT) trend.
Melania announced on Thursday in a post on her verified Twitter page that she will be selling her NFT titled “Melania’s Vision” between Dec 16 and Dec 31.
The NFT is the first digital art to be sold on her newly launched platform, which will release NFTs regularly and is powered by Parler.
Melania’s NFT taps Solana blockchain, popular for lower fees than Ethereum blockchain.
The former first lady would be using her NFTs as a tool for inspiration. She said in the release that proceeds from her first sale to help children in the foster care system.
“I am proud to announce my new NFT endeavor, which embodies my passion for the arts, and will support my ongoing commitment to children through my Be Best initiative,” she said in a statement. “Through this new technology-based platform, we will provide children computer science skills, including programming and software development, to thrive after they age out of the foster community,” she wrote.
As the first lady, Melania spearheaded the Be Best initiative — a campaign focused on the youth and well-being. Since leaving the White House in January, the former first lady has laid low and remained private as always and has rarely been seen publicly.
Melania, other influential people in NFT web
While former President Donald Trump famously said that he’s “not a fan” of Bitcoin, his wife is not shying away from crypto collectibles.
Melania, 51, joins a growing list of celebrities offering lucrative digital memorabilia. Earlier this year, Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi, Jamaican athlete Usain Bolt, and American football player Tom Brady launched their collections of NFTs. Singer Justin Bieber and K-pop group BTS have also dived in. The list of popular people who have floated their NFT is endless.
Melania’s debutant NFT features a watercolor art by Marc-Antoine Coulon and embodies Mrs. Trump’s cobalt blue eyes. The art piece would be auctioned for 1 SOL ($150) alongside an audio recording from Mrs. Trump with a message of hope.
According to the press release, the initial drop is the first of many. Trump said more NFTs will be released in intervals on her website and plans to preview “n “NFT and private collection auction” on” on Jan 4 to be sold on Jan 11.
